About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command, specifically the 30th Contracting Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base, has issued a Special Notice for a brand name firm-fixed-price contract focused on engine replacement services. The notice pertains to procuring a single Cummins ISL9 300 long block engine replacement, which requires comprehensive services including ECM reprogramming and function testing. The procurement will be executed under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, which governs the acquisition of commercial products and services. This notice is structured as a potential single-source procurement under the simplified acquisition threshold, with the government reserving the right to determine competitive approach based on received capabilities statements. The opportunity is categorized under the General Automotive Repair NAICS code and falls within the maintenance and repair of engine components product service category.
Interested contractors are invited to submit a narrative describing their capabilities and qualifications to fulfill the engine replacement requirement by March 13, 2025, at 4:30 PM Pacific Time. Submissions must be emailed to taylor.dunn.6@spaceforce.mil with a copy to tyler.troge.2@spaceforce.mil, though respondents should note that no costs incurred in preparing the capabilities statement will be reimbursed. The government will evaluate these submissions solely to determine whether to proceed with a competitive or single-source procurement, with the final decision remaining entirely at the government's discretion. While this notice is not a formal request for quotes or proposals, it represents an opportunity for qualified vendors with Cummins engine replacement expertise to demonstrate their capabilities. Contractors should carefully review the attached Single Source Justification document and be prepared to provide detailed information about their technical competence, certification, and ability to perform the specified engine replacement services.
