About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 8 units of outboard sled covers under NSN 1H-5840-014379548, classified as radar equipment except airborne. This procurement requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain part quality, as existing qualified sources retain unique design capabilities, engineering skills, and proprietary manufacturing knowledge not economically available to the Government. The items will be delivered to DLA Distribution facilities in New Cumberland, PA and Tracy, CA. Interested parties must include their CAGE code on solicitation requests and may obtain relevant military specifications and standards through the DoD Single Stock Point or ASSIST-Online. The notice indicates the Government intends to use sole source authority under FAR 6.302-1, though all responsible sources may express interest and capability to respond by July 18, 2025.

This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside opportunity, restricting competition to qualifying small business entities. The notice does not identify specific incumbent contractors or current suppliers, though it references the need for approved sources with existing technical data rights and manufacturing knowledge. No contract value or budget range is specified in the pre-solicitation notice. The quantity requirement is limited to 8 units total, with delivery split between two DLA distribution centers. Alternative sources must qualify through design control activity procedures approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity, indicating a potentially lengthy qualification process for new vendors seeking to compete for this requirement.
