About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure eight electronic covers under NSN 1H-5840-014379529, which are radar equipment components requiring specialized engineering source approval to maintain quality standards. This procurement necessitates acquisition from approved sources that possess unique design capabilities, engineering skills, and manufacturing knowledge, as the Government does not have economical access to the essential technical data required for quality maintenance. Prospective contractors must obtain engineering source approval from the design control activity, and any alternate sources must undergo qualification procedures approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity. The solicitation requires all responding firms to include their CAGE codes with their requests. Interested parties have until October 15, 2025, to respond to this pre-solicitation notice, with delivery destinations specified as DLA Distribution facilities in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and Tracy, California.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to qualified small business entities. The procurement calls for a quantity of eight units to be delivered to two separate DLA Distribution centers, with no specific incumbent contractors or current service providers identified in the notice. While no specific contract value or budget range is disclosed in this pre-solicitation phase, the specialized nature of the radar equipment components and the engineering source approval requirements suggest this is a technically complex procurement. The extended timeline from the January 22, 2025 posting date to the October 15, 2025 due date provides substantial time for potential contractors to navigate the qualification processes and prepare comprehensive responses. The requirement for approved source qualification indicates that only a limited number of suppliers may be capable of fulfilling this contract.
