About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center is seeking countermeasure flare magazines through a Request for Information and Sources Sought Synopsis issued on February 9, 2026. The magazines must be capable of carrying MJU-68/B flares and interfacing with the AN/ALE-52 Dispensing System for use on F-22 aircraft. Key requirements include airworthiness qualification per the F-22 Environmental Control Document, with demonstrated capability to withstand salt-fog, vibration, gunfire, and temperature extremes testing. Prospective contractors must maintain a high-quality CPAR rating and be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database using NAICS code 335910. Responses to this sources sought inquiry must be submitted electronically by 12:00 PM Eastern time on March 9, 2026, to the identified Contracting Officer, Program Manager, and Engineer, with responses limited to 20 pages and should address technical capabilities, cost estimates, test results, warranty terms, and small business utilization plans.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation and represents a requirement for 846 countermeasure magazines. Prospective contractors must demonstrate the ability to commence manufacturing operations by October 2026, indicating a compressed timeline for production readiness. While no specific award value or budget range has been disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, the quantity requirement of 846 units suggests a significant procurement volume. The RFI responses will be used solely for market research and informational purposes to inform the government's acquisition strategy, statements of work, and performance specifications, with the government making no procurement commitment and declining to reimburse respondents for preparation costs. Interested contractors should include company data, small business certifications, test results, warranty information, spare parts availability, training capabilities, and risk assessments in their submissions.
