About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Portland awarded a contract to McMillen, LLC for $3,966,000 on August 24, 2022 to replace two 90-inch butterfly valves and control unit systems at the Cougar Powerhouse. The valves being replaced were originally installed in the early 1960s and are part of the bifurcated penstock system that isolates and shuts off water supply to the two main generating turbines. This construction project aims to improve the reliability and safety of the valve systems which have become increasingly problematic to operate.

Notice text

:  The two main generating units at the Cougar Powerhouse use butterfly valves to shut off the penstock water supply to the turbines.  A single penstock is bifurcated into the two headers each equipped with a butterfly valve to isolate each turbine. These valves were originally placed in service in the early 1960’s. All the systems relating to the valves are becoming increasingly problematic.  This is a construction project to replace the two (2) 90” butterfly valves and control unit systems to improve reliability and safety.

Awarded contract W9127N22C0016 to McMillen, LLC for 3966000.00 on 2022-08-24.
