About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District issued a Special Notice on January 29, 2026, announcing the consolidation of dredging requirements across multiple discrete sites on the Mississippi River, Red River, and Ouachita-Black Rivers. This announcement is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a request for proposals or invitation for bids; a separate solicitation will be issued for the project. The consolidated procurement is classified under NAICS Code 237990 (Dredging and Surface Cleanup Activities) and Product Service Code Z1KF (Maintenance of Dredging Facilities). The estimated contract value is $12,000,000 with a performance period not exceeding 365 calendar days. The requirement calls for leasing one cutterhead hydraulic pipeline dredge with a minimum 24-inch diameter, fully operated with attendant plant and personnel, and a draft not exceeding 9 feet.
The primary objective of this consolidation is to achieve substantial cost savings estimated at more than $6,035,000 compared to awarding eighteen separate contracts, with savings primarily derived from eliminating redundant mobilization and demobilization expenses and reducing administrative overhead. The solicitation will be advertised as unrestricted and is anticipated to be awarded to a single contractor on a Firm Fixed-Price basis. Contractors must be capable of providing fully-operated dredging equipment with the specified technical parameters and personnel for construction and maintenance dredging operations. Historical participation data indicates that qualified dredging contractors are predominantly large businesses, with limited small business participation opportunities due to geographic and equipment constraints; prior MATOC holders included Inland Dredging Company, LLC, Crosby Dredging, LLC, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, LLC, and Weeks Marine. Interested parties should note the due date of February 12, 2026, and monitor for the upcoming formal solicitation announcement.
