About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is procuring a Computer System (SPE) classified under Navigational Instruments (PSC 6605). This procurement requires Government source approval prior to contract award, as the item is flight-critical and requires engineering source approval by the design control activity to maintain quality standards. Only sources previously approved by the Government have been solicited for this opportunity. Prospective contractors who are not currently approved sources must submit detailed source approval information demonstrating their technical capabilities, manufacturing experience, and ability to meet the design control activity's qualification procedures. The proposal due date is February 26, 2026, and potential bidders should note that the time required for new source approval typically prevents delays to contract award, making pre-approval a critical factor in competitiveness.

This procurement is not designated as a set-aside contract and carries no socioeconomic preference restrictions. The Government is seeking to acquire 20 units of NSN 7R-6605-016815863-BL with delivery on a FOB Origin basis. The specific incumbent contractors or current approved sources are not identified in this pre-solicitation notice, though interested parties can access source approval information through the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Business Opportunities portal. The notice does not specify an explicit award value or budget range. Contractors lacking current source approval status should be aware that their ability to compete will depend on successfully navigating the Government's source qualification procedures, which may require submission of technical data, manufacturing documentation, and evidence of production experience with the same or similar items.
