About this opportunity

The 30th Contracting Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base has issued a sole source notice of intent to procure 16 compute cluster nodes from PSSC Labs under a firm-fixed-price contract. The Department of the Air Force Space Command is seeking to acquire PowerWulf ZXR1+ Cluster A8000G2 nodes with 1536 processors to enhance computing capacity for pre-launch and Department of Labor risk analysis tasks. This procurement will be conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 12 for commercial products and services, utilizing GSA Multiple Award Schedule 47QTCA24D00FW. The action falls under the simplified acquisition threshold and is being processed as a sole source procurement due to PSSC Labs' unique qualifications. The specific requirement involves high-performance computing hardware that must be compatible with existing ARCTOS-certified systems and onsite infrastructure.

The primary objective of this procurement is to increase computing capacity and reduce analysis time for critical space launch risk assessment operations at Vandenberg Space Force Base. Interested parties have until September 11, 2025, at 8:00 AM Pacific Time to submit capability statements via email to the designated contracting officers, though this notice explicitly states it is not a request for quotes or proposals. The sole source justification is based on PSSC Labs being the only vendor qualified to provide ARCTOS-certified solutions compatible with the existing Range Risk Analysis Tool (RRAT) software in multi-processor mode. While the government intends to proceed with sole source procurement, they reserve the right to evaluate submitted capability statements solely to determine whether to conduct the procurement competitively. The technical specifications include demanding requirements such as 768 AMD EPYC processor cores, 4096 GB of high-performance ECC memory, and integration with existing network infrastructure and power distribution systems.
