About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has issued a Limited / Sole Source Justification Notice for a firm-fixed price order of radio occultation data products from PlanetiQ's commercial satellite constellations, valued at $420,042 with a twelve-month performance period. The primary objective is to acquire additional satellite data for evaluating Ionosphere Total Electron Content (TEC) during specific months (June-August, 4 days in May, 2 days in October) and Neutral Atmosphere Radio Occultation products. NASA is using a Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) exception, citing PlanetiQ as the only awardee capable of providing these unique and highly specialized services, with the contract awarded under number 80HQTR24DA005. The previous task order did not provide adequate data to complete the Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) funded projects, necessitating this modification to fully assess and evaluate PlanetiQ's data quality and utility. NASA plans to continue examining the market for alternative solutions and intends to re-engage the community every one to two years through on-ramping efforts, with the potential for increased competition in future task orders once PlanetiQ completes its Evaluation Phase.
