About this opportunity

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Chemical Sciences Division has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to negotiate a sole source membership with the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) located in Berwyn, PA. The notice indicates that NIST will purchase a membership with four potential option periods under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). NIST's Chemical Sciences Division supports measurement science, standards, and technology across various scientific domains, with a specific focus on developing technical standards for the healthcare community. The organization relies on CLSI's extensive database to develop and implement these critical standards. CLSI uses a collaborative approach involving government, industry, and healthcare professionals to generate quality system procedures.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure a membership that will help NIST maintain relevance in clinical reference materials and stay informed about best practices in clinical chemistry. Interested parties are invited to submit responses by December 24, 2024, though the notice emphasizes that this is not a competitive solicitation. CLSI memberships are unique, with no trade partners or resellers, and no other membership organizations can meet their specific requirements.
