Cherry Creek Monitoring Wells Phase 2 - Statement of Work
This project is for installing 7 alluvial monitoring wells along Cherry Creek in the Tonto National Forest in Gila County, Arizona. The work is to provide information about ground water surface water interactions along the creek and to aid in documenting the link between stream flow and the water table elevation needs of wildlife habitat that is represented by the riparian vegetation bordering the creek.
The site is located approximately 20 miles north of Globe, Arizona. The site can be accessed by traveling North on SR 188 from Globe to SR 288, Traveling North on SR 288 to the Cherry Creek Road (FR 203), Traveling east on the Cherry Creek Road to FR 87, and traveling South on FR 87 approximately one half mile to the staging area. From the staging area access is by small size all terrain vehicle (ATV) only to the drill sites. The seven well sites have been identified to Township, Range, and Section. The sites will be flagged and GPS coordinates will be provided. The contractor will also work directly with Forest representative, Grant Loomis to reach the specific site location.
Specs: Each monitoring well should be drilled to a depth of 20 feet below ground surface and cased with one inch diameter .020 slotted pvc which should extend up the length of the 1-inch pvc (to within 3 feet from surface). The well should be completed with a locking case. A well log must be provided to track changes in stratigraphy of rock and other material that is bored through. Acquiring the Permits and registration for the 7 wells will be the responsibility of the drilling contractor. All well construction materials will be provided by the contractor. Water can be obtained locally.
Due to the sensitive nature of the riparian and aquatic ecosystems at the site access from the staging area to the drill sites will be by small scale rubber tired ATV only.
