About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, is seeking a small business contractor to provide chemical vegetation control services at the West Thompson Lake Project in North Grosvenordale, Connecticut. The solicitation requires a comprehensive service that includes all labor, equipment, materials, transportation, and permits for maintaining approximately 25 acres across three distinct work areas. Contractors must perform maintenance spraying and spot treatments on rock slopes and dam structures, with a requirement to submit Chemical Utilization Spray Reports after herbicide application. To be considered, vendors must have an active SAM.gov registration and achieve a 90% vegetation kill rate within 45 days of treatment. The solicitation was issued on March 19, 2025, with proposals due by April 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM Eastern Time, and the evaluation will likely focus on technical capability, safety protocols, and compliance with environmental regulations.
The contract is exclusively set aside for small businesses under NAICS code 561730, with a size standard of $9.5 million. The period of performance runs from contract award to October 1, 2025, with all vegetation treatment to be completed by July 1, 2025. While no incumbent contractor is mentioned, the solicitation indicates this is a new requirement for chemical vegetation control services. The project encompasses three specific treatment areas: West Thompson Dam (approximately 20 acres), East Side (approximately 2 acres), and West Side (approximately 3 acres), as detailed in the attached geographical maps. Contractors must demonstrate strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental considerations, and federal and state regulations governing herbicide application, with precise geographical treatment zones clearly defined in the project documentation.
