About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 10 units of a specific chair/operator part with the NSN 1H-2090-011779883-X5, to be delivered to two DLA Distribution locations in New Cumberland, PA and Tracy, CA. The proposed contract action will be conducted under FAR 6.302-1, which allows for negotiation with a single source, though all responsible sources may submit their interest and capability within 45 days of the notice's publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). The government indicates that the technical data rights for this part are not owned by the government, making reverse engineering uneconomical, and potential vendors must obtain necessary specifications through the DoD Single Stock Point. Interested parties can access documentation through ASSIST-Online or by contacting the DODSSP ASSIST Help Desk. The government will use its discretion in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on the responses received.

This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, targeting small business contractors for the contract opportunity. The specific contract involves a relatively small quantity of 10 units, with delivery to two separate military distribution centers. While no specific award value is explicitly stated, the contract appears to be for a specialized piece of equipment with limited technical data availability. The pre-solicitation was posted on February 28, 2025, with responses due by March 31, 2025, providing approximately one month for potential contractors to express interest. The government has explicitly noted that this notice is not a competitive proposal request, but rather an opportunity for vendors to demonstrate their capability to meet the specific equipment requirements. Additionally, the notice indicates that commercial item alternatives may be considered, with interested parties having 15 days to identify potential commercial solutions to the government's requirement.
