About this opportunity

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, intends to procure development and integration services for an improved Hybrid Inlet Particle Separator (IPS) system for CH-53K aircraft engines. This sole-source procurement will be conducted under existing Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-23-G-0002 and aims to increase particle separation efficiency and improve engine Time-On-Wing performance, particularly in austere and desert environments. The contract will cover non-recurring engineering efforts required for the development and integration of the enhanced inlet system technology. The procurement is justified under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) and FAR 6.302-1 as requiring only one responsible source capable of satisfying the agency's specific requirements. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on June 10, 2025, with a response deadline of June 25, 2025.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and will be awarded as a sole-source contract to Sikorsky, A Lockheed Martin Company, located at 6900 Main Street, Stratford, Connecticut. The contract falls under NAICS code 336412 for Aircraft Engine and Engine Parts Manufacturing and PSC code 1520 for Aircraft, Rotary Wing. No specific contract value or budget range has been disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice. Companies interested in subcontracting opportunities are directed to contact Jason Lockwood, Sikorsky's Subcontracting Manager, at 203-225-3657. The procurement focuses on a single development effort rather than multiple quantities of hardware, emphasizing the engineering and integration work required to enhance the CH-53K's engine protection capabilities.
