About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking qualified contractors to perform drydock repairs on the USCGC VISE (WLIC-75305), a 75-foot Inland Construction Tender homeported in Petersburg, Florida. This pre-solicitation notice was posted on October 31, 2025, with a sources sought deadline of November 14, 2025. The scope of work encompasses extensive hull maintenance and repairs, including hull plating inspections and ultrasonic testing, propulsion system work such as shaft and bearing removal and reinstallation, preservation of underwater body components, propeller servicing, cathodic protection system renewal, and various deck and fitting inspections and preservation activities. The work will be performed at the contractor's facility, and contractors must be capable of handling the full range of technical requirements associated with comprehensive vessel drydock services. While the pre-solicitation notice does not specify the formal evaluation criteria that will be applied to proposals, interested parties should anticipate that technical capability, experience with similar vessel repairs, facility capabilities, and pricing will likely factor into the government's decision-making process.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation, meaning it is open to all qualified contractors. The anticipated period of performance is from March 10, 2026, to May 19, 2026, though the notice indicates this timeline is subject to change. No incumbent contractor or award value is identified in the pre-solicitation notice, and no specific quantity metrics are provided beyond the identification of the single vessel requiring repair. The opportunity is classified under NAICS code 336611 (Ship Building and Repairing) and PSC code J998 (Non-Nuclear Ship Repair, East), indicating it is targeted toward established marine repair and shipbuilding enterprises with the requisite facilities and expertise to handle Coast Guard vessel maintenance operations.
