About this opportunity

The Department of Homeland Security's United States Coast Guard has issued a Special Notice for the procurement of critical repair parts for the #3 crane on the USCGC Bertholf (WMSL 750), a Coast Guard cutter. The notice details a sole source procurement for two specific components: a YMD-13860 snatch block and a YMD-13859 crane block. These parts are currently seized, rendering the crane inoperable and preventing essential maritime operations such as equipment onload and small boat launch/recovery. The solicitation is specifically targeted for small businesses and falls under the Ship Building and Repairing NAICS category. The procurement will be managed by USCG-SFLC-LREPL Asset Management, with MKCM Bryan Briggs serving as the primary point of contact.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to return the crane system to Full Mission Capable (FMC) status by obtaining the necessary replacement parts. Contractors must be able to supply the specified parts and provide ground freight shipping to the cutter's homeport in Alameda, California, with a required delivery date of 26 weeks from receipt of order. The opportunity is set aside exclusively for small businesses, providing a targeted contracting pathway for qualifying vendors. Delivery will be made directly to USCGC BERTHOLF at 1 Eagle Rd. BLDG 42, Alameda, CA 94501, with no specific security requirements associated with the procurement. The total contract value is not explicitly stated, but the notice indicates a focused, time-sensitive requirement to restore critical maritime equipment functionality. Interested small business contractors must carefully review the detailed specifications and be prepared to meet the precise part requirements and delivery timeline.
