About this opportunity
The United States Coast Guard (USCG), a component of the Department of Homeland Security, has issued a Special Notice for a sole-source procurement of a Single Phase Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) for the USCGC ALDER (WLB 216) vessel. The opportunity is specifically designated for small businesses and focuses on acquiring a specialized UPS system that meets multiple military standards including MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1399, and MIL-STD-167. The contract requires the vendor to provide a comprehensive UPS package consisting of a specific cabinet, internal assembly, power modules, isolation transformer, and chassis slides. The procurement is being conducted through Guard Sector San Francisco, located at Yerba Buena Island in San Francisco, California.
Contractors interested in this opportunity must be prepared to deliver the complete UPS system within 5 weeks of contract award, with specific technical specifications and configuration requirements. The contract involves critical responsibilities for the contractor, including providing a Marine Chemist for initial hot work certification and a competent person for recertification. Additionally, the contractor will be responsible for fire watches after standard working hours (post-1500), while USCGC ALDER will manage fire watches during working hours (0700-1500). The total small business set-aside means only small businesses are eligible to compete for this contract, which is posted on April 21, 2025, with a response deadline of April 28, 2025. Contractors must carefully review the detailed technical requirements and ensure they can meet the military-grade standards and precise equipment specifications outlined in the Statement of Work.
