About this opportunity

The US Geological Survey's Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC) is conducting a Sources Sought Notice to identify potential suppliers for 101 dual-technology acoustic and radio tags for a fish telemetry study near a dam in the Cuyahoga River. The procurement is specifically seeking tags that can be implanted into various fish species and must be compatible with existing Innovasea acoustic receivers and Lotek radio receivers. Currently, Lotek appears to be the only known manufacturer of these specialized dual-technology tags, which must provide real-time sensor data including temperature, pressure/depth, and bi-modal motion transmission. Interested parties are required to respond via email by January 16, 2025, and must detail their ability to meet specifications, describe their business type, and provide evidence of past performance. Respondents must indicate their business size and any small business classifications, with the agency emphasizing interest in small business participation.

The Sources Sought Notice falls under NAICS code 334419 for Other Electronic Component Manufacturing, with a size standard of 750 employees, and is not currently set aside for any specific business category. While no specific award value is mentioned, the procurement is for a precise quantity of 101 tags to support an ongoing research project at the dam site. Small businesses, including those with HUBZone, 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Women-Owned, and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned certifications, are highly encouraged to participate. The notice emphasizes that this is a market research exercise and does not guarantee a future solicitation or contract. The primary contact for this opportunity is Kimberly Schneider, who can be reached at krschneider@usgs.gov for any questions or clarifications about the potential procurement.
