Added: May 05, 2008 9:05 am The Project consists of the installation of an inlet structure hydraulic dredging, and an mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay to provide tidal flow to the wetland cell 1A. We feel that contract needs the resources of a larger contractor that has the experience with building on the shorelines and the flexibility in adapting to island contruction. For Poplar island, I lead the way in using 8A contractors and will continue to do so where appropriate. The risk of these structures failing must be reduced by using a contractor who is highly experienced, highly flexible and familiar with working in the island/water environment.
