The notice was posted on December 19, 2024, with a response deadline of December 24, 2024, at 12:00 PM Mountain Time.
The primary objective of this ethnographic study is to document and preserve traditional ecological knowledge related to vegetation management practices of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah. Contractors interested in the opportunity must submit comprehensive information demonstrating their ability to meet the specified requirements, which include organizing and conducting interviews with Tribal representatives, compiling existing ethnographic data, identifying traditional vegetation management areas, and preparing a detailed ethnographic report. While the University of Arizona is the intended sole-source contractor due to its long-standing relationship with PITU since 1991, the Bureau of Land Management invites other interested parties to submit their qualifications. The study's scope involves completing the ethnographic research within three years of award, with a focus on capturing and synthesizing traditional ecological knowledge. The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the requirement based on the responses received. Interested parties can contact Byron Anderson at bianderson@blm.gov for additional information about the Special Notice.
