About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 5 units of a military-specific catapult/aircraft equipment item identified by National Stock Number 1R-1377-990756122-LX. The procurement will be conducted under FAR 6.302-1, which allows negotiation with a single source, though the government will consider all proposals received within 45 days of publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). Interested parties can obtain relevant military specifications and standards through the DoD Single Stock Point (DODSSP) via online platforms like ASSIST-Online or by contacting the DODSSP Help Desk. While this is not a formal competitive proposal request, the government will evaluate submissions to determine whether to pursue a competitive procurement process. Potential vendors must demonstrate their capability to satisfy the government's requirements, with a specific 15-day window for identifying commercial item alternatives.

This pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside classifications for the contract, suggesting it is open to a broad range of potential contractors. The procurement falls under Product Service Code 1377 for Cartridge and Propellant Actuated Devices and Components. While specific award values are not disclosed, the relatively small quantity of 5 units suggests a focused, potentially specialized procurement. The government has explicitly stated it will not use FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition in this solicitation. The contract's delivery terms are FOB Origin, and the reference number MBEU146295 has been provided for additional tracking. The opportunity was posted on May 7, 2025, with a response deadline of June 9, 2025, providing potential vendors approximately one month to prepare and submit their capabilities or proposals.
