About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 is conducting market research for capillary electrophoresis instrumentation and gel-based systems to support Richmond VAMC, with responses due by October 8, 2026.
Richmond VAMC requires a fully automated capillary analyzer capable of performing Serum Protein Electrophoresis (40 tests/day), Urine Protein Electrophoresis (12 tests/day), Serum and Urine Immunotyping (9 tests/hour), Hemoglobin electrophoresis (40 tests/hour), and Hemoglobin A1c testing (30 tests/hour). The analyzer must include automated primary tube sampling, onboard barcode reader, bidirectional LIS interfacing with VISTA software through Data Innovations, unlimited database storage, and Windows-driven point-and-click software. The instrument must support multiple barcode formats with minimum 10-character specimen identifiers (20-character preferred) and achieve operational status within 60 days of installation. The gel-based system must offer storage of complete gel images, semi-automated capability with front-end automation options, touch screen interface, onboard reagent counter, and validated methodology to mitigate interference from therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. All equipment and reagents must meet College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Joint Commission (TJC) proficiency testing standards.
Place of performance is Richmond VA Medical Center, 1201 Broad Rock Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia 23249. NAICS 334516 applies; PSC is 6640. Respondents must provide small business status, active SAM registration with Unique Entity Identifier, capabilities statements, CVE certifications if applicable (SDVOSB/VOSB), authorized distributor letters from manufacturers, and indication of interest in Federal Supply Schedule or Open Market quotes. Submit to Natasha Hawkins at Natasha.Hawkins@va.gov.
