Notice text

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Office of Mine Safety and Health Research (OMSHR) has a requirement seeking proposals for reducing respirable dust exposures to underground shuttle car operators through development of an innovative canopy air curtain design that can be implemented on shuttle cars. This design may be based upon past successful canopy air curtain research along with new innovations and must be rugged/durable to withstand an underground mine environment. The technology used in this design must meet MSHA approval for safe use in underground coal mines. The canopy air curtain design must not hinder shuttle car operator performance. Success of the shuttle car canopy air curtain will be determined by its ability to reduce the shuttle car operator's respirable coal dust exposure and its ability to operate for long durations on a shuttle car in an underground coal mine environment. A firm fixed price contract award is intended. Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 2015-N-16901 will be issued on an unrestricted basis to full and open competition. The solicitation will be issued on or about April 22, 2015. Proposals will be due on or about May 22, 2015. Organizations interested in receiving a copy of the solicitation may submit a written request to DHHS/PHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NIOSH-Pittsburgh, Office of Acquisition Services - Branch 4, 626 Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Written requests submitted to Facsimile Number 412-386-6429 will be accepted. No telephone requests will be accepted. Please cite the solicitation number in a request. Offerors may obtain a copy of the RFP via the internet at https://www.fbo.gov/. All responsible responsive sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
