About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District is seeking a self-propelled trailing suction type hopper dredge for removing and disposing of shoal material in the Calcasieu River Bar Channel, located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. This solicitation, issued as an Invitation for Bid (IFB), will result in a firm-fixed-price contract for dredging services that may also extend to other areas within the New Orleans, Galveston, and Mobile Districts. The contract will be awarded using an unrestricted competitive bidding process under NAICS code 237990, with contractors required to maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on December 4, 2024, with the bid opening date to be set by subsequent amendment.
The contract opportunity has an estimated value between $5-10 million and will encompass eight different bid lots based on dredge specifications, including variations in pump diameter, hopper capacity, and number of dragarms. Contractors must select and bid on a single lot that matches their dredge capabilities and include pricing for both base and optional work periods. The contract duration will range from 49-91 days for the base work, with equivalent optional periods available. Contractors will be required to begin dredging within 240 hours after receiving the Notice to Proceed, and a pre-award inspection of the dredge and associated equipment will be mandatory unless waived due to timing constraints. The place of performance is primarily in Louisiana, with potential work in multiple districts across the Gulf Coast region. No specific set-aside designations are in place for this solicitation, making it open to all qualifying contractors.
