About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure a cable assembly with National Stock Number 1R-5995-016815399-P8, requiring 10 units to be delivered FOB Origin. This pre-solicitation notice indicates a specialized procurement where only previously approved sources can submit proposals, as the item is considered flight critical with potentially inadequate technical documentation. Interested contractors must submit source approval information from the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Source Approval Information Brochures, demonstrating their capability to produce the specific cable assembly. The government intends to negotiate with a single source under FAR 6.302-1 authority, with proposals being accepted within 45 days of publication. Evaluation will focus on meeting qualification requirements at the time of award, with the government retaining discretion to determine competitive procurement approach.

The pre-solicitation notice does not specify a set-aside designation, indicating the opportunity is open to all qualified vendors. No specific incumbent contractors are mentioned, and no precise award value is provided in the documentation. The solicitation references potential limitations in processing source approvals, with the government reserving the right to continue award based on fleet support needs if source approval timelines cannot be met. The procurement is specifically for a communication equipment cable assembly, categorized under PSC Code 5995. While the exact budget is not disclosed, the requirement is for 10 units, suggesting a relatively focused procurement. Contractors interested in being considered must carefully review and comply with the detailed source approval requirements outlined in the NAVSUP WSS brochures to be eligible for potential contract award.
