About this opportunity
The Department of the Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking novel, emerging technologies and materials with potential application as hidden, machine-readable counterfeit deterrent or authentication features for future generations of U.S. currency. The RFI is focused on identifying innovative security features that are difficult to discover, understand the functionality of, and resistant to simulation or duplication, while also being readable by a standalone detection system.
The purpose of this RFI is to gather information for planning and informational purposes only, not to solicit or commit to a future contract. Interested parties are requested to submit preliminary samples and a brief technical description to the BEP R&D technical lead by 2:00 PM Eastern Time on October 9, 2025. The BEP may submit the offered technologies to outside technical experts for evaluation, though this RFI does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to a future contract.
