About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center seeks a Bunting Laboratory Single Disc High Intensity Magnetic Separator or equivalent, with quotes due September 9, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. The procurement is set aside exclusively for small businesses.

Place of performance is NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Road, Cleveland, OH 44135-3191, specifically the SLOPE Lab, 23-W2. The equipment must be a single-disc cross-belt horizontal magnetic separator for dry granular mineral material with throughput of 30–50 kg/hr and a footprint not exceeding 1.5 m × 2.5 m. Technical specifications include magnetic intensity of 1.8–2.0 Tesla at minimum gap, adjustable feed hopper and vibratory feeder, abrasion-resistant conveyor belt with variable speed control, and separate removable collection bins for each output product. Equipment must operate on U.S.-standard industrial power. Acceptance requires successful separation of a mixture of sandy silt (90 wt%) and ilmenite particles (10 wt%) into clean splits at 30–50 kg/hr for at least one hour, with throughput measured by collecting combined-output samples from all splits simultaneously for at least one minute beginning 30–50 minutes after test initiation. Ancillary services include minimum one-year warranty with phone support, user's manual documentation, and on-site setup and checkout. Delivery is required by November 6, 2026. The equipment supports the GiGi Project, a system proof-of-concept combining regolith beneficiation magnetic technologies for lunar and Mars surface infrastructure development. NAICS code is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing); PSC is 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). Evaluation uses a lowest price technically acceptable (LPTA) approach, awarding to the responsible offeror whose conforming offer meets all requirements at the lowest price. Questions are due September 8, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. Offerors must be registered in SAM.gov and submit quotes via email to Cody Guidry at cody.d.guidry@nasa.gov, including company CAGE code/UEI and two points of contact. Quotes must remain valid for 30 days and include all shipping costs under FOB Destination terms. Solicitation number is 80NSSC26942549Q.
