About this opportunity
The United States Government (USG), through the Department of State US Embassy in Mexico City, is seeking the services of a contractor to perform repairs and restoration work on the built-in closets, interior doors, wood frames, and security door finishes in eight (8) housing units at a U.S. Embassy-owned compound in Mexico City. The work is estimated to be valued between $100,000 and $250,000. Eligible contractors must meet specific qualifications, including understanding English, having an established business, necessary personnel and resources, required licenses and permits, and a strong performance record. The USG intends to award a firm fixed-price contract to the responsible company submitting a technically acceptable proposal at the lowest price, without holding discussions, unless necessary.

Please note this solicitation is not ready to be issued as of this date. The Embassy of the United States in Mexico City will launch the solicitation on SAM.gov website when it is available.
The United States Government (USG) requires the services of a contractor to perform works at a U.S. Embassy Mexico City owned housing compound. This work will be to repair by replacement three (3) main components of the unit as listed, built-in closets, interior doors wood frames and finishes and security doors finishes. This effort will have an estimated value between $100,000 and $250,000 U.S. dollars, per FAR 36.204 (c).
The selected contractor will be fully responsible for performing all the necessary work including, but not limited to temporary partitions to isolate the renovation areas; removal of the existing closets, wood frames and interior doors, finishes replacement in security doors in eight (8) units of the same compound; replacement of built-in closets, wood frames, masonry and finishing work. The refurbishment shall use only high-quality, first-class materials (all properly evaluated and approved by the project's Contracting Officer Representative (COR)).
All construction contractors that respond to the solicitation must be technically qualified and financially responsible to perform the work. At a minimum, each offeror must meet the following requirements when submitting their proposal:
- Be able to understand written and spoken English;
- Have an established business with a permanent address and telephone listing;
- Have the necessary personnel, equipment and financial resources available to perform the work;
- Have all licenses and permits required by local law;
- Meet all local insurance requirements;
- Have the ability to obtain a performance and guarantee bond and a payment bond, or to post adequate performance security, such as irrevocable letters of credit or guarantees issued by a reputable financial institution;
- Have no adverse criminal record;
- Have no political or business affiliation which could be considered contrary to the interests of the United States;
- Have good experience and past performance records; and,
- Identify specialized experience and technical competence required to complete the construction work in accordance with this solicitation.
The U.S. Government intends to award a firm fixed-price contract to the responsible company submitting a technically acceptable proposal at the lowest price. We intend to award a contract based on initial proposals, without holding discussions, although we may hold discussions with companies in the competitive range if there is a need to do so.
All contractors are to be registered in the SAM (System for Award Management) Database https://www.sam.gov prior to submitting a quotation pursuant to FAR provision 52.204-7.
