About this opportunity

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Laboratory Division has issued a Special Notice regarding the procurement of the BSD600 Ascent A2 Biosample Punch Instrument from BSD Robotics Pty Ltd. Posted on January 7, 2026, this notice constitutes the sole announcement for a planned sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract with the Australian manufacturer. The FBI intends to negotiate directly with BSD Robotics under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 authority, citing the vendor as the exclusive manufacturer and provider of the BSD series of biological-sample punching instruments. This procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC code 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). The notice will be distributed exclusively through the General Services Administration's System for Awards Management website, requiring interested parties to actively monitor SAM.gov for updates.

While this represents a sole-source procurement, the FBI will consider capability statements, proposals, or quotations from any responsible source submitted by the January 16, 2026 deadline at 5:00 PM EST. Interested contractors must contact Contracting Officer Adelle Bolton via email at albolton@fbi.gov to express their interests or capabilities. The justification for sole-source procurement is available upon request, and the FBI emphasizes that only products purchased directly from BSD Robotics and serviced by BSD Robotics-trained personnel will retain valid warranties and manufacturer guarantees. The instrument is intended to replace the FBI's current BSD instrument at the Laboratory Division. Although this notice is not a formal request for competitive quotations, responsible sources retain the opportunity to submit documentation for agency consideration.
