The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure plastic bottles through a total small business set-aside solicitation. The contract requires the manufacture of a specific plastic bottle design, as detailed on Drawing 2674398, with precise material and physical requirements. Contractors must meet strict military standards for marking, configuration control, and quality assurance, including maintaining detailed inspection records for 365 calendar days after final delivery. The solicitation requires government source inspection and mandates a 90-day delivery timeline. The contract opportunity was posted on November 27, 2024, with proposal responses due by January 27, 2025.
This solicitation is specifically targeted at small businesses in the Plastics Bottle Manufacturing sector (NAICS 326160). The contract involves producing plastic bottles with specific packaging requirements outlined in military standards like MIL-STD-2073. While the exact award value is not specified, the procurement is for a container package of 4 oz bottles, with precise technical specifications. Contractors must be prepared to comply with complex configuration control processes, including submitting engineering change proposals and deviation requests. The performance location is not explicitly stated, but communication and documentation will be managed through naval supply chain contacts in locations such as Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and potential naval facilities.
