About this opportunity
The Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center San Diego has issued a Special Notice for a sole source justification and approval for other than full and open competition. The notice pertains to Boat Maintenance, Repair, and Technical Support Services for Commander, Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW) Port Operations at Naval Base San Diego. The contract supports Port Operations' critical mission of providing waterfront services to the U.S. Navy fleet and other Department of Defense activities across multiple naval installations in California. This includes maintaining various specialized vessels such as Harbor Security Boats, Barrier Handling Boats, and Port Operations Oil Recovery and Utility Crafts. The notice acknowledges that the organization lacks internal capabilities to perform these essential maintenance and repair services, necessitating external contractual support.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure contractual support for continuous boat maintenance and repair to ensure vessels remain at optimal operational specifications. The contract will cover a 3-month performance period, targeting maintenance services for naval vessels across installations including Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Coronado, Naval Auxiliary Landing Field San Clemente Island, Naval Base Point Loma, Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, and Naval Base Ventura County. The notice indicates this is a sole source procurement, suggesting limited competition and potentially specific contractor qualifications. While no specific set-aside is mentioned, contractors will likely need specialized expertise in maritime vessel maintenance and repair. The procurement falls under NAICS category 811490 for Other Personal and Household Goods Repair and Maintenance, which provides a framework for the type of services being sought. Potential contractors should carefully review the detailed requirements and be prepared to demonstrate their capability to support critical naval port operations.
