About this opportunity

The United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), part of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command, is seeking information on a Blood Plasma Spray Drying System for clinical transfusion purposes. This Request for Information (RFI) is designed to gather market intelligence about potential vendors who can provide a system capable of producing dried plasma products suitable for medical use. The system must include a spray dryer, sealer, and plastic consumable components that can operate in a closed, aseptic process without requiring a sterile room. Interested parties are required to submit a three-page capability statement by February 11, 2025, at 12:00 pm Eastern Time to Jeremy McMurry via email. The RFI emphasizes that this is not a formal solicitation and does not guarantee a contract award, but serves as a method to understand potential vendor capabilities.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside for small businesses, though vendors must provide details about their business classification. The system requirements are precise, including specifications for the drying and sealing modular units with specific dimensional, electrical, and performance requirements. The USAISR seeks a system that can produce a dried plasma unit of at least 48g, with modular equipment not exceeding three separate units and meeting detailed technical specifications. The procurement includes 470 units of various consumables such as plasma drying chambers, pretreatment containers, sterile water, transfer sets, and packaging. Vendors are expected to provide comprehensive information about their technical expertise, product availability, and relevant experience in government, academic, or industry settings. The NAICS code for this opportunity is 334519, categorized under Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing.
