About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure Blade Set, Fan, Aircraft components for the F108 aircraft engine, with a specific focus on parts that compress and process air to the core compressor and fan discharge duct. The solicitation (RFP #SPRTA1-25-R-0288) is for titanium alloy fan blades with specific dimensions of 23.5 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 4 inches high, weighing 10 pounds each. The contract will be a firm fixed-price procurement, with electronic procedures being the sole method of solicitation, available exclusively on sam.gov. Interested parties are invited to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations within 45 days of publication, with an anticipated solicitation release date of June 20, 2025, and a closing/response date of July 25, 2025. The government has appointed an Ombudsman (contactable at 405-855-3552) to address contractor concerns during the proposal development phase.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no small business set-aside, with CFM International, Inc. identified as the qualified source for these components. The government intends to potentially negotiate with a limited number of sources under FAR 6.302 authority, treating this as a potential sole-source requirement. The contract seeks to procure between 77 and 462 fan blade sets, with a best estimated quantity of 308 units, and a delivery requirement of on or before August 31, 2027. The items are classified as a Critical Safety Item (CSI), meaning strict compliance with specifications is mandatory. The anticipated award date is estimated at 60 calendar days after the solicitation closing date, with the government's contractual obligation contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds. The procurement falls under NAICS category 336412 for Aircraft Engine and Engine Parts Manufacturing and PSC category 2840 for Gas Turbines and Jet Engine Components.
