About this opportunity

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has issued a Special Notice for technical services related to inspection and correction of a Woodward control system on the USCGC BERTHOLF, a Coast Guard cutter located in Alameda, California. This is a sole-source procurement targeting small businesses to address communication issues with the vessel's control panel, specifically a "#COM" error requiring specialized troubleshooting. The notice was posted on April 24, 2025, with a response deadline of April 30, 2025, and falls under the Ship Building and Repairing NAICS category. The procurement is being managed by USCG-SFLC-LRE PL Asset Management, with Master Chief Bryan Briggs serving as the primary point of contact.

The primary objective of this special notice is to return the Woodward control system to normal operating condition through comprehensive technical intervention. Eligible contractors must provide a qualified technician familiar with Woodward control systems who can advise on proprietary information, assist with repair methods, and ensure compliance with manufacturer procedures during system disassembly, inspection, repair, modification, calibration, and reassembly. Contractors are required to supply all necessary personnel, materials, travel, parts, tools, and equipment to complete the task. The work will be performed at Base Alameda, with security access requirements including a valid driver's license and proper identification. Contractors must submit a final report within three days of the contract's performance period, and base access will be facilitated with sponsorship and escort by a Coast Guard representative. The total small business set-aside indicates that only small business entities are eligible to compete for this technical services opportunity.
