Notice text

Synopsis: In accordance with FAR 15.202 (a) Prospective prime construction contractors interested in this project must respond to the Request for Qualifications in the attached Scope of Work (SOW). Project Description: The Northern Regional Office of the USDA-Forest Service has determined that a potential threat to human health and the environment stems from the Heap Leach Facility as the result of past mining activity at the Beal Mountain mine. The Forest Service has completed an Engineering Evaluation and Cost Analysis (EE/CA) under the Comprehensive Environmental Response and Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) in order to develop the appropriate response action. There is a significant threat of a release of hazardous substances, including but not limited to, nitrate+nitrite, sulfate, copper, iron selenium and cyanide from the heap leach facility to German Gulch and other surface water and ground water. Thus, there is a need to implement the selected removal action to repair the northern end of the heap leach area. Project Location: The Mine site is located on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest approximately 16 miles southwest of Butte, Montana in Silver Bow County, and 10 miles southwest of Fairmont, Montana, in Township 2 and 3 North, Range 10 West of the Montana Principal Meridian in (all or ) portions of Sections 5 and 6 and Sections 31 and 32. The Site encompasses NFS lands under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service, Butte Ranger District, Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. Cost Range: Between $1,000,000and $2,000,000.
