About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is procuring ball bearings (annular type), identified by NSN 3H-3110-010542626-NT, through this pre-solicitation notice. This procurement requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain part quality, as the qualified source possesses unique design capabilities, manufacturing knowledge, and technical data that are not economically available elsewhere and are essential to preserving part integrity. Prospective contractors must qualify according to the design control activity's procedures and obtain approval from the cognizant Government engineering activity having jurisdiction over the part's intended application. While specific evaluation criteria are not detailed in this notice, the qualification procedures and design control requirements will serve as the primary basis for contractor selection. The due date for submission is February 23, 2026, and interested parties should note the posted date of August 14, 2025.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and requires the delivery of ten units on an FOB Origin basis. No incumbent contractor, award value, or budget range is specified in the pre-solicitation notice. The notice emphasizes that alternate sources may participate if they successfully complete the qualification process established by the design control activity; however, the existing approved source's proprietary technical data and manufacturing knowledge create a significant barrier to entry. Interested parties can obtain relevant Military and Federal Specifications, Standards, and Qualified Products Lists through the DoD Single Stock Point at the Document Automation and Production Service in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or through the ASSIST-Online database. Additional documentation such as patterns, drawings, and purchase descriptions must be requested directly from DODSSP through their website or by contacting their ASSIST Help Desk.
