About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is conducting market research for the procurement of lactation pods for Beale Air Force Base, fulfilling requirements under the PUMP Act and DAFI 36-3013. The solicitation seeks freestanding lactation pods with specific dimensional requirements of 5' W x 2'10" D x 7'3" H, weighing 390 lbs. Required features include a bench, shelf, mirror, hook, refrigerator, motion-activated vents and lighting, food-service grade interior surfaces, dual UL-rated 11-volt/20-amp outlets, USB ports, and a 10-foot electrical cord. The market research is designed to gather information from potential contractors before issuing a formal solicitation, with responses due by April 15, 2025. Contractors will be evaluated on their ability to meet the precise specifications and provide installation services as needed for functionality.
The opportunity is set aside for total small business participation and falls under the Institutional Furniture Manufacturing NAICS category (337127). The Air Force plans to procure four lactation pods to be delivered and installed in local units by June 30, 2025. While no specific award value is mentioned, the procurement is part of a broader federal initiative to provide dedicated breastfeeding spaces for employees, extending workplace lactation protections to approximately 9 million additional workers. The solicitation requires contractors to provide peer-reviewed research demonstrating the product's effectiveness, particularly for military populations. Potential vendors will need to demonstrate compliance with detailed technical specifications and the ability to meet the June 30, 2025 delivery deadline.
