About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime awarded a limited-source contract to TADIRAN (CAGE 4WGJ2) for nonrechargeable aircraft batteries (NSN 6135-01-578-8642) for F/A-18 aircraft on July 14, 2026, with an estimated contract maximum value of $1,396,050.
The justification cites 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.103-1, on the basis that TADIRAN is the only responsible source approved by the design control activity and no other supplies are form, fit, and functionally interchangeable with those currently in use. The procurement is structured as an indefinite delivery contract for a five-year period consisting of a three-year base period and two one-year option periods, with an estimated annual demand of 29,129 units on a firm-fixed-price basis. Competition efforts included a Sources Sought Notice posted April 20–28, 2026 (which yielded no responses) and a market survey conducted April 21–May 21, 2026 with contact to eight potential vendors; five vendors responded, and three expressed interest. The solicitation was synopsized May 27–June 3, 2026 and posted to the DLA Internet Bid Board System for a minimum 20 days. The contracting officer approved the justification on June 24, 2026. The contract incorporates DLAD Procurement Note L04 to permit alternate offers and establishes a Source Approval Request Package process for future competing sources. Place of performance is Columbus, Ohio.
