About this opportunity

The US Army Corps of Engineers seeks bat surveying and mist-netting services at Camp Grayling, Michigan, with proposals due May 21, 2026 at 12:00 PM CDT and contract award anticipated mid-June 2026. This is a women-owned small business set-aside with HUBZone evaluation preference.

Place of performance is Grayling, Michigan. The contractor will capture bats via mist-netting at a minimum of four sites over a two-week period between July 1 and August 15, 2026, collecting species, sex, age, reproductive status, mass, forearm length, and wing score data. Radio transmitters must be compatible with the government's Lotek SRX1200-M2 Receiver (160.000–171.999 MHz frequency range) and Motus monitoring systems; previously used models include NTQB2 Motus tags and PicoPip Ag337 tags. Suturing is the preferred method for transmitter attachment. The contractor must obtain prior IACUC approval before seeking ARCOO approval; government assistance is provided following contractor approval. Mist-netting entails a minimum of eight net nights (at least two per site), with nets varying from 2–4 double-high sets per site depending on site conditions. All work must be completed within 14 calendar days or less.

Bat handling must comply with Michigan Department of Natural Resources requirements. Contractor personnel must complete AT Level I training online and site-specific safety briefings in-person before fieldwork. Access requires pre-registration and Real ID or passport; no escort is required for field sites and nighttime access is permitted. The contractor must submit a draft report documenting results before period of service end, with 30 days provided for revision. The NAICS code is 541715. Evaluation factors are experience in bat ecology, mist-netting, and radio telemetry; past performance; and price reasonableness. Experience in securing ARCOO approval is an evaluation criterion.
