About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base has issued a pre-solicitation notice for a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources capable of providing a Back Automatic Parachute (BA-X) system to replace the current BA-18 parachutes used by B-52 aircrew. The RFI seeks feedback from industry on their ability to meet the requirements outlined in the attached Performance Specification, including physical properties, performance, and testing. Respondents are asked to provide information on their capability to meet the requirements, existing solutions, production capacity, sustainment, and cost data. Responses to the RFI are due by 5:00 pm EST on July 3, 2024, and will be used to refine the acquisition strategy and potential future solicitations.

The pre-solicitation notice does not identify any set-aside designations. The Government is seeking unlimited technical data rights for the BA-X system to maintain configuration control. The NAICS code is 314999 - All Other Miscellaneous Textile Product Mills, and the PSC is 1670-P - Parachutes; Aerial Pick Up, Delivery, Recovery Systems; And Cargo Tie Down Equipment. The acquisition strategy for this requirement is still being determined, and the Government may contact respondents for additional information or offer information feedback sessions after the RFI assessments are completed.
