About this opportunity
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS) have issued a Special Notice for the Radar NEXT Industry Day, a virtual event scheduled for December 5, 2024. The event marks the beginning of planning for the next generation weather radar replacement program. NOAA/NWS will host a one-hour virtual meeting to introduce an upcoming Weather Radar Technology Exploration Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). The purpose of this industry day is to engage potential industry partners and conduct market research for the radar replacement initiative. Representatives from the Radar NEXT team will provide an overview of the program's priorities and discuss tentative timelines for potential awards.
The industry day will focus on radar network concepts, radar data services, Phased Array Radar (PAR) system maturity, and data integration technologies. Contractors interested in participating must register for the event by December 4, 2024, with registration details provided in the notice's attachments. The BAA will have primary interests including radar network concepts, acquisition recommendations, and program management approaches, with secondary interests in areas such as spectrum considerations, radar architectures, and artificial intelligence applications. A limited number of 1-on-1 Q&A breakout sessions will be available to industry partners after the BAA release, allowing for more sensitive discussions. It is important to note that this is not a solicitation or invitation for bid, but a market research and industry engagement opportunity. Potential participants should carefully review the BAA priorities and be prepared to explore innovative weather radar technology advancements.
