About this opportunity
The Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma is conducting a sources-sought market research effort for repair and overhaul of B-52 Bypass Duct Assemblies, with responses due by September 10, 2025. No set-aside applies. The Air Force seeks contractors capable of furnishing labor, materials, facilities, and equipment to disassemble, clean, inspect, maintain, reassemble, test, and finish six bypass duct assembly part numbers across an estimated 995 total units: Part 35-8271 (115 units), Part 35-8272 (150 units), Part 35-8275-1 (310 units), Part 35-8275-2 (230 units), Part 35-8270-501 (190 units), and Part 35-8270-502 (150 units).
Performance occurs at Tinker Air Force Base. Technical requirements include mandatory calibration of Government-furnished Final Assembly Jigs to NIST standards, strict adherence to Boeing engineering drawings and Air Force Technical Orders, corrosion control procedures limiting material removal to 10–20 percent, 100 percent defect-free delivery, and comprehensive counterfeit prevention and supply chain risk management programs. Contractors must manage supply chain logistics, long-lead parts procurement, reparable forecasting, and obsolescence management. Government-furnished property includes fourteen items: Final Assembly Fixtures, molds, and tooling jigs. Quality acceptance inspections are supported by DCMA representatives. Monthly production reporting and manpower reporting via SAM.gov are required.
The procurement is classified under PSC 1560 and NAICS 336413 (size standard 1,250 employees). All business types are eligible, including 8(a) certified firms, small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone firms, and women-owned small businesses. Interested parties submit Part I business information to 424SCMS.RFI.Responses@us.af.mil; the government does not intend to award a contract based on this market research.
