About this opportunity

The 7th Contracting Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, is conducting a market-research sources-sought for B-1B aircraft intake and exhaust plugs, with responses due by 3:00 p.m. Central Time on August 14, 2026; this RFI does not constitute a solicitation and will not result in contract award.

The requirement encompasses 44 heavy-duty foam intake plugs (45" × 28.5" × 6" thick), 44 foam exhaust plugs (45" diameter × 4" wide), 24 inflatable intake plugs, 24 inflatable exhaust plugs, and 6 portable inflation pumps with standard air chuck adapters and pressure-relief valves. Foam plugs must provide weather and moisture resistance to prevent foreign object damage and water intrusion during ramp or hangar storage; inflatable plugs are designed for TDY and deployed operations on austere ramps, with integrated securing straps and rapid-deployment capability. All products must be delivered to Dyess AFB.

The procurement falls under NAICS 336413 (Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing, 1,250-employee size standard) and PSC 1730 (Aircraft Ground Servicing Equipment). No set-aside is anticipated. The government seeks Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimates and industry feedback on acquisition strategy and vendor capability. Responses must include company experience, ROM pricing, statement of capability, CAGE code, Unique Entity ID, and point-of-contact information, submitted electronically via SAM.gov or email. Large and small businesses are encouraged to respond. The government reserves the right to set-aside any subsequent formal RFP or RFQ based on responses received.
