About this opportunity

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office, awarded a $1,492,611.30 firm-fixed-price contract to KIDDE Technologies Inc. on August 19, 2026, for retrofit kits and associated repairs to fire suppression and safety systems across the F/A-18 E/F, EA-18G, and F/A-18 C/D aircraft.

The period of performance spans three years consisting of one base year and two option years. The work covers upgrades of 108 existing fire protection and safety systems for part number 473660-03, addressing inadvertent discharges from the Dry Bay Fire Suppression System caused by false Fire Suppression Control Alarm actuations. The upgrade implements new software (part number 473660-04) that incorporates dual Optical Fire Detectors prior to system activation, reducing inadvertent discharge likelihood. NAVAIR intends to execute upgrades via a round-robin approach across USN fleet units, with potential connector or Circuit Card Assembly replacements if systems fail acceptance testing.

The award was made under FAR Subpart 6.302-1 (only one responsible source) with no set-aside. KIDDE is the original equipment manufacturer and sole vendor qualified to upgrade FSCAs, holding exclusive manufacturing knowledge, software data, and design rights. A sources sought notice posted August 15, 2024, received no responses. NAICS code 336413.
