About this opportunity

The United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (USDA ARS) in the Northeast Area is conducting a Sources Sought Notice for the procurement of a laboratory steam sterilizer unit (autoclave). The equipment is required for sterilizing laboratory media, glassware, utensils, and decontaminating liquid waste during scientific experiments. Specific requirements include a 20" x 20" x 38" chamber size, pre-vacuum functionality, single steam-activated door, and plant steam compatibility. The agency is seeking to identify potential sources and evaluate the market's capability to provide this specialized laboratory equipment. Responses must be submitted by December 19, 2024, at 9:00 AM PT to Elizabeth Wilson via email, with a complete capability statement, SAM.gov UEI Number, business size classification, and place of manufacture.

The Sources Sought Notice does not currently have a specific set-aside designation but is specifically seeking information from various small business categories, including HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned, 8(a), veteran-owned, woman-owned, and small disadvantaged businesses. The procurement includes not just the autoclave equipment but also a comprehensive installation service package that covers equipment uncrating, assembly, utility connections, and disposal of existing equipment. The notice emphasizes the importance of domestic end-product availability and requires respondents to clarify their manufacturing location. While no specific award value is mentioned, the notice indicates this is a market research exercise to determine the appropriate acquisition method, with the potential for a future Combined Synopsis solicitation on SAM.gov. Respondents are advised that no compensation will be provided for submitting information and that the government is not obligated to provide feedback or acknowledgment of received responses.
