Notice text

RECOVERY - The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue a competitive solicitation for the authorized release of medical information through integration with the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) to improve the speed and consistency of its Disability Determination Process. SSAs anticipates awarding fixed price contracts to expand our current Medical Evidence Gathering and Analysis through Health Information Technology (MEGAHIT) project by recruiting additional health care providers and networks to automate the exchange of medical records. This will be done through a full and open, competitive, fixed-price request for proposal (RFP) contracting process. SSA hopes to award contracts to organizations representing Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs), General Medical Service Providers/Facilities and Specialty Care Providers/Facilities. This effort will be funded with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funds. The proposed contracts will be for a base period of 12 months. This requirement is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 15, Contracting by Negotiation. The applicable The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) code and size standard are 622110 and $34.5 million. The solicitation (SSA-RFP-10-1001) will be available on the FedBizOpps (FBO) web page at www.fbo.gov on or about August 7, 2009. All parties interested in submitting an offer should download the solicitation from the FBO web site. No telephone requests will be honored.
