Description

The intent of this project is to abandon the quasi-municipal well #31669, located at the Austin Ranger District Administrative compound, consistent with State of Nevada Regulations found at NRS 534.420-427. The well was drilled in 1989 and used until the compound was hooked up to the City of Austin municipal water system in the 2000s. The well is 350 feet deep and has a 6-inch diameter casing inside of its original 12 inch diameter construction. The well casing contains a louvered screen (mounted in a flange frame) between 270 and 330 ft depth BGS. The well is currently capped and locked, and is easily accessible from existing dirt roads to the area. The successful contractor will be licensed by the State of Nevada Engineer to perform well abandonment. The well is located on land administered by the Forest Service within the Austin Ranger District in central Nevada. Fallon, the nearest town with commercial services is located approximately 105 miles west of the Site.
