About this opportunity

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) Contracts Department intends to issue a sole-source Firm-Fixed-Price contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation for new Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) 5 Inch Projectile Bodies compatible with the MK 45 Gun Weapon System, with responses due November 18, 2026. The notice is a Special Notice with no set-aside used, so the award would proceed without competition under 10 USC 4022(f)(1) and DFARS 206.001-70, which permit a follow-on production contract after a prototype project is completed. The prototype OTA (N001742390042) was competitively awarded under the Naval Energetic Systems and Technologies (NEST) Request for Prototype Projects, and the Government accepted the delivered development and qualification tasks as the basis for the prototype build. Northrop Grumman completed the prototype projects, which the notice states satisfies the statutory and DFARS requirements. The notice is not a request for proposals and does not commit the Government to any acquisition approach. The Government will consider all responses received, but a decision not to compete rests solely within its discretion. Requests for solicitation will not receive a response. Submissions are at no cost to the respondent. The notice carries NAICS 332993 and PSC 1320, and it was posted November 3, 2026.
