About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network 7 is seeking qualified vendors to provide a Cost Per Reportable Result laboratory automation service contract for the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, with sources sought responses due by August 26, 2026.
The contract covers a one-year base period from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027, with four one-year option periods. The VA seeks an FDA-approved automated integrated laboratory track system including chemistry analyzers, immunoassay analyzers, two centrifuges, decapper, and input module. CPRR pricing must encompass reagents, controls, calibrators, consumables, accessories, fixed rental fees for instruments and automation components, middleware, system installation and integration, 24/7 service availability, water system hardware and service, and complete personnel training.
The system must deliver minimum combined throughput of 1,000 tests per hour for chemistry and 600 tests per hour for immunochemistry, with STAT test results within 10 minutes. Mirrored system configurations are required for redundancy, and automated pre/post-analytical specimen processing must handle capacity for 1,000 specimens. Operations must be available 24 hours daily, seven days weekly, including federal holidays. Middleware must integrate with the VA's VISTA system through Data Innovations. Contractor personnel must be factory-trained with minimum two years' experience and fluent in English. Vendor must provide method comparison studies at no cost, maintain locally-based service representatives, perform preventive maintenance minimum three times yearly per instrument, and deliver emergency repairs within 24 hours. All equipment and software must be FDA-approved at contract award with no bridged solutions pending approvals.
Responses should be directed to Thomas.Nicholls@va.gov.
