About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey issued a notice of intent to award a sole-source purchase order to Nortek USA Inc. for an Aquadopp Profiler 2 MHz Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, with capability statements due by August 31, 2026.
USGS requires an acoustic Doppler current profiler for scientific field deployments capable of high-resolution current and wave measurements at 2 MHz acoustic frequency, with an integrated solid-state magnetometer/compass, up to 200 measurement cells in standard profiling mode and 256 cells in high-resolution mode, and compatibility with existing Government deployment systems. USGS currently operates Nortek Aquadopp instruments and determines that continued use of the Nortek Aquadopp family is necessary to maintain compatibility with existing mounting hardware, field procedures, instrument configuration methods, data-processing workflows, and historical scientific datasets. Based on market research, Nortek USA Inc. is the only identified source capable of providing the required combination of technical, physical, compatibility, and data-continuity requirements.
The award will follow FAR Part 12 and simplified acquisition procedures. Although this is not a competitive solicitation, all responsible parties may submit a capability statement for Government consideration. No solicitation will be issued. The Government retains sole discretion to decline competition based on responses received. Responses and inquiries must be submitted by email to victor_nuno@ios.doi.gov. The applicable NAICS code is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing); PSC is 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies).
